Apple recently announced that the AirPods Pro will receive USB-C charging in 2021. This news comes as a surprise to many, as the AirPods Pro have been using the Lightning port for charging since their release in 2019. The new USB-C charging port will make it easier to charge the AirPods Pro on the go, as USB-C is more widely available than the Lightning port.

The USB-C charging port will also allow for faster charging times. Apple claims that the AirPods Pro will be able to charge up to 50% in just 30 minutes, compared to the 1.5 hours it currently takes to charge them with the Lightning port. This is great news for those who are always on the go and need their AirPods Pro to be charged quickly.

Unfortunately, Apple has not announced any plans to upgrade the current AirPods 3 with USB-C charging. This means that those who own the AirPods 3 will still need to use the Lightning port for charging. However, Apple has said that they are working on a new version of the AirPods 3 that will feature active noise cancellation and improved sound quality.

The USB-C charging port on the AirPods Pro is a welcome addition, as it makes it easier to charge them on the go. However, it is unfortunate that Apple has not announced any plans to upgrade the current AirPods 3 with USB-C charging. Hopefully, this will change in the future and Apple will offer an upgrade option for those who own the AirPods 3.
